Why is infant baptism a key part of some churches but not others? In this video we look at four arguments for infant baptism put forward by those who hold to covenant theology. These reasons are portrayed in an article written by Zachary Garris: (1) The children of believers were members of the Abrahamic covenant; (2) The new covenant is a renewal of the Abrahamic covenant; (3) Baptism replaced circumcision as the sign of the covenant; and (4) Children born to Christian parents are members of the new covenant. Reformed theologians often will use a form of these arguments in arguing for infant baptism so we evaluate their strength.
